  1. A Christmas Story - It's amazing how different this film is to watch from the parent perspective instead of the kid's. RIP: Bob Clark
  2. A Christmas Story - A nearly perfect film, one that I can quote almost word for word. THE X-mas film, as far as I'm concerned.
  3. Shorts - Fun kids movie from Robert Rodriguez. Kids find rock that grants all their wishes, wackiness ensues, perfect for 5-10-year-olds
  4. Princess & Frog - Great to see traditional, beautiful hand-drawn animated film from Disney, thought they were dead, fun story & decent songs
  5. Santa's Slay - First 5 min by far best of film as Bill Goldberg's santa kills off James Caan & others, but whole film has fun chaotic spirit
  6. Fifth Element - An extremely underrated sci-fi flick, impeccably made by Luc Besson, with a futuristic look that hasn't been done to death.
  7. Avatar - It's very much a James Cameron movie. Must see in the theater, in 3D, the visuals are a step beyond anything else ever made.
  8. Scrubs - Wish they'd left it with last year's finale. Lamely phasing out Zach Braff, who is the show. Not much reason left to watch.
  9. Meatballs 4 - Guilty pleasure from my youth. Corey Feldman in drug-addict/paycheck phase, slightly funny. 90's haircuts and neon abounds.
  10. Lower Learning - Straight-to-video comedy that never quite jells, scenes & jokes everywhere, with Jason Biggs trying to hold it all together
  11. The Gauntlet - Earlier Clint Eastwood film (as director), Dirty Harry lite, with gun-scenes so ridiculous they'd be considered spoofs today.
  12. Hiding Out - Jon Cryer is a stockbroker that hides from the mob by going back to high school. A plot that could only work in the 80's.
  13. Miner's Massacre - I only made it through about 20 minutes of this "horror" film, but was bored stiff by the lame acting and lamer kills.
  14. Midnight Movie - Bad acting dampens a cool premise: Cult movie psycho escapes screening, kills audience, then drags them back into the film
  15. Lady & Tramp II - I generally hate the Disney classic's sequels. This wasn't as bad as some, mostly ignorable, but had some retched songs.
  16. Fantastic Mr. Fox - Wes Anderson could make stop-motion films for the rest of his career and I'd be happy, this is a perfect film.
  17. Ghoulies - Swear I'd seen before, but think poster was so burned into my head, I invented a movie for it. Hardly any ghoulies in it at all.
  18. Heavy Metal Parking Lot - Pure 80's awesomeness! A classic of the time. Now on Hulu: http://alturl.com/4w4r
  19. Funny People - Judd Apatow needs a new editor, his films are all about half-hour too long, but still a step or two above most of Hollywood.
  20. Prep & Landing - Cute enough to DVR for the kids in coming years, but will it hold the same nostalgic feeling as a Rankin & Bass special?
