  2. The Hard Bigotry of Low Expectations. It will be the end of us all. http://writing101.net/2101
  3. It's that time of the semester. I'm getting tired and the overwhelming apathy of the dead in my classes is sucking the life from me...
  4. The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher regard those who think alike than those who think differently. -FN
  5. ...seems like a violation of a patient's bill of rights to me. Maybe it's time to find a holistic dentist, or at least one who respects us.
  6. Took a browbeating from our dentist today because we refused "diagnostic" x-rays for Aidan. We were told we could not return w/o x-rays...
  7. Spending a lot of time outside in the rain this weekend--hiking and volunteering with prairie seed collection and re-dispersal at Midewin.
  8. Endured six and a half hours of incarceration today, as the administration exerted their contractual right to numb our minds 4x a year.
  9. Aidan started his very own photo blog today. He's still adding photos, but it's a start: http://ajpix.writing101.net/
  10. Went to a free class at the Will County FP on early American fur trading and story telling. Just one other family there. Free and awesome!
  11. The kiln did some magical things to all our pottery this week. What great fun! Today, I tried my hand at "slab building."
  12. Trying to catch up on sleep. Just one more thing to do...
  13. Trying to write. Slow going. Can't stop looking for distractions. Perhaps a muffin and a cup of coffee...
  14. Glazed some pots today. Good fun. We'll see what the kiln does to them next week. In other news, I discovered the band Dispatch today. Cool.
  15. Just got back from a walkabout around the neighborhood with Aidan. We took some photos over by the Yunker farm. Aidan took some nice shots.
  16. Wondering if the the Suzuki violin method might be a little too rigid and focused on rote practice. Aidan's interest is questionable.
  17. Finding things to distract myself from the much needed writing I need to do. I have a rough outline; does that count as writing?
  18. Just discovered Twitterfox. Very cool.
  19. Today Aidan started talking about poetry. He said, "I think we all have these poems in us that we just have to find." What an amazing kid.
  20. Another busy week passed. Threw some more clay today. A decent way to channel the stress of the week...
