  1. Finally doing a few more tests, almost have the right wick for the 4oz jars & retesting the saturation of the sweet cinnamon "witching hour"
  2. Also received scent samples from new potential supplier. Mmm, the cranberry spice smells awesome - can't wait to see... http://bit.ly/TLmS5
  3. Finally got plenty of wick sample packs & 4oz jars for properly testing scents w/out losing vast quantities of oil... http://bit.ly/1d11Be

  5. My hands still smell like a yummy licorice/cinnamon candy even though I've scrubbed them. Trying not to eat my own hands. Nom nom nom.
  6. Actually it's just one little 4oz candle. Had to make it small so I have enough left over for further testing w/ the tiny 1oz sample.
  7. Attempted first candles w/ scent. A sweet & spicy cinnamon/anise scent called "Witching Hour." Whole process made me very hungry!
  8. Got 2 more wick types for testing. Why did I pick such a wide jar (~3.5")? At least I'll have plenty of wicks for testing other jar sizes!
  9. More tests w/ hemp wicks. Want 2 see if dye effects burn rate - 3 shades of blue, pretty! Got 2 wait another 48hrs for them to cure - sigh.
  10. Hemp wicks definitely burn more wax but still not enough. Must get this right before wasting scent/oil on candles that don't burn properly.
  11. Waiting for hemp-wick batch to cure. Meanwhile burning dyed, cotton-wick batch, which surprisingly burn better than their undyed equivalents
  12. New test runs w/ hemp cored wicks! Hope they work better than straight cotton.
  13. Finished 2nd test batch this time w/ dark purple dye, no fragrance :( Burn testing 1st test batch, I wonder which wick will win?
  14. Finished my first test candles & can't stop looking at them while they cool. Want to make more but found that I really need a scale first!
  15. Minor setback: only one side of my new double electric range works & not the good one. Should've got a griddle instead - lesson learned!
  16. Finally received all basic equip/supplies to start testing out candle recipes. First up: container/wax/wick test (no dye, no fragrance). ...
  17. @iancavalier resistance is futile!
  18. Setting up Wispy Willow Studio, a cruelty-free, vegan-friendly soy candle mfr. (plans 4 all natural line 2). Please check back soon!
