Wipeout

  1. THIS IS BUCKING NUTS Wipeout merchandising now available http://bit.ly/TdgMb
  2. Thanks to all of you we were once again the #1show last night at 8PM!!!
  3. Goodnight and Big Balls!!
  4. Anyone notice that the WIPEOUT sign in the background changes colors every show? It’s actually always silver, and we only change the lights.
  5. Melia weighs only about 100lbs! We had to specially test the catapult with a 100lb dummy to make sure it wouldn’t throw her too far!
  6. There’s a 1/2 million gallons of water in that tank alone! We work hard to conserve; we filter & chlorinate, and re-use it the whole season.
  7. That blue tube on the Turntable Wedge – is that…? Yes, it’s a pool noodle! With a rope through it. $1.99, super low tech, and it’s perfect.
  8. A boat - RT @zjh90 @Wipeout How do you get the contestants onto the bull without getting them wet?
  9. This newest tank is also our deepest at 12’, which allowed us to build higher! It’s 15’ to the water. That smacks!
  10. Now you can clearly see the mechanical bull we bought on eBay! It wasn’t red though. Buy It Now for $7000!
  11. So why do we do the $1000 bonus round when we know who advances already? Buys us 5 more WIPEOUTS, of course! $200/wipeout is a bargain!
  12. A solenoid on the Sweeper broke today - it’s an electronic switch starts the gyro. An FX guy pulled one off a truck lift gate to fix it!
  13. At first the Swings were on motors, but we found humans could create a swing that gave us better wipeouts! There are ropes from the top.
  14. In addition we have another 50 people “in post production” editing the shows.
  15. Then there’s producers, PAs, wardrobe, makeup, lighting, contestant handlers, transpo, safety medics, catering, and of course - a Best Boy!
  16. Our shooting crew is 125 people! 27 just in camera and sound, 12 operating the course, 25 building the next challenges…
  17. The Hurtles are controlled by 2 people for maximum impact. One of the two is the co-creator of the show, Scott Larsen!
  18. Those Sweeper Trees weigh almost 1000lbs each and their outer edges move at 11 feet per second. Get hit and you’ll be moving 11 feet/second!
  19. Hey everybody, welcome to the West Coast Tweets!
  20. Because we save $4,000:) RT @btheninger @Wipeout why only $1000 though why not $5000
