  2. A hare’s digestive tract differs structurally from a rabbit and newborn hares are precocial in contrast to hairless, blind cottontail young.
  3. Snowshoe hares have longer ears, larger feet, and a rangier build that a rabbit.
  4. Although closely related to the more abundant cottontail, the snowshoe is not a true rabbit.
  5. Snowshoe hares are related to rabbits but differing in several important ways. Snowshoe describes the animal’s huge, furry hind feet.
