  5. Am still in the USA - where there is tremendous interest in the State Dinner. These are always hyped, and this time it is Obama's first!
  6. My colleague Bharat Raj, one of India's best camerapersons, got stunning pictures. I then spent lots of time on the "conspiracy"
  7. Was summoned by Liberhans on two separate occasions in the early 1990s! I still cant believe how long the report has taken!!
  8. Members of the Shiv Sena and the Bajrang Dal spoke on camera how they had planned the demolition with great care, and smuggled in tools.
  9. Back to Ayodhya -- I broke my foot on Dec 3rd and missed my "ringside seat". The Bajrang Dal attacked all journalists and smashed cameras
  10. The American administration is at pains to say that THIS indicates that India is still a top priority. Expect lots of fluffy talk!
  11. One positive outcome of Dec 1992 -- the shattering of the power of the Bajrang Dal. Today you only hear about occasionally -- Orissa for eg
  12. I made "friends" with many of the top Bajrang Dal leaders; they promised my crew a ringside seat when "the great event" took place.
  13. They spoke proudly of military style training in many states, and of how they could get cadre to any spot seeing communal trouble. Chilling.
  14. In the summer of 1992, the shadow of the Bajrang Dal was everywhere. Tough today to remember just how intimidating that group used to be
  15. For those asking about Liberhans, I DID testify twice. In connection with a Newstrack story I did on the "conspiracy" to demolish
  16. First went to ayodhya that summer. The first thing i noticed was how peaceful the atmosphere INSIDE the Babri Masjid was.
  17. It was surreal. Barbed wires, plenty of security and queues of devotees lining up for their tikas and prasad. Powerful atmosphere inside
  18. Many people have forgotten that before the demolition, the structure was actually a functioning temple, with an idol inside and pujaris.
  19. Over the next few days on NDTV Social, i will tweet some memories of Ayodhya 1992. It was the first really big story that i worked on.
  20. @runita Excuse??!! With Bonds, NBCU exit, AND Scripps havent slept in a month! And let's not forget Social. need a nap. zzzzz...
