  1. damn you legacy system!
  2. started using ruby's IRB console as a sys-admin tool to manage service accounts. working out well. destroy :email=>'foo@bar.com'
  3. perlbal::plugin::mogilefs gone async, no more blocking the event loop while fetching data from slow trackers.
  4. @zoliky Just a heads up, updated to 10.6.2, no issues with nvidia drivers on my 8800gt card. I guess they fixed whatever issues there were.
  5. Published my improved fork of Java MogileFS client. list_keys support, java generics, slf4j logging, junit testing. http://bit.ly/3Go1UH
  6. importing 50 gigs of static assets into mogilefs, its like watching grass grow.
  7. Just released Perlbal::Plugin::MogileFS on github http://bit.ly/2q1q5S
  8. perlbal - the load balancing swiss army knife
  9. MogileFS works great on Solaris with my patches http://bit.ly/2RzNjH
  10. @alasdairsolaris No, not anymore. Varnish lacks streaming cache support, this adds latency for cache misses. nginx+squid == varnish
  11. @alasdairsolaris It works reliably as long as you define connect_timeout to 0 and tune your solaris tcp settings to avoid TIME_WAIT bloat
  12. @marcusramberg think you can post your ::memstat info on your solaris box? prod kernel takes 2gigs of ram (no disk cache in that size)
  13. productive day, wrote a flat file to mogilefs storage tool to place fab40 image data onto distributed mogilefs storage.... 39 gigs to go.
  14. @marcusramberg moon is fscking awesome. Best scifi movie I have seen in a while.
  15. submitted patches to get mogilefs to work on solaris. Anyone who is interested http://bit.ly/tweTH
  16. why can't the iphone sync stickies? mail.app notes are a pain to use.
  17. @zoliky btw how is the performance with the new drivers?
  18. @zoliky thanks I will give it a try.
  19. @zoliky too bad your 10.6.2 prediction did not come true ;-(
  20. @satrac why? you lost data? Just do the obvious, setup a slave mysql instance to backup whatever critical database, sleep well at night.
