  1. In just one month, the football team becomes the first UWP squad to report to campus. Training camp starts Aug. 15.
  2. Nine Pioneer track and field athletes earned All-Academic America awards, including Jess Scott, who also earned an academic honor from WIAC.
  3. Exciting time in UWP Athletics, as the new $5.3 million fitness center construction began this week. Also, the new bleachers come Monday.
  4. According to a recent article in the NCAA news, Twitter is allowed in Division III as long as no recruiting is done, so we are back!

  6. Due to a recent NCAA ruling, DIII schools can no longer use Twitter or other social networking sites. So this site will be taken down.
  7. Jess Scott and Ann Tank (800) and Alison Glendenning (400H) have qualified for nationals individually and will team with Liz Baker in 4x400.
  8. Corey Digman, Andy Melby, and the 4x100 relay team of Matt Bischoff, Mitch Spees, Alex Switzky and Lynn Oyawiri are heading to nationals.
  9. The 4x400 relay team is now the fourth-fastest squad in the country, and Nathan Petesch and Jason Garvens reached NCAA provo marks Thursday.
  10. Packers president Mark Murphy, LB Brady Poppinga, S Nick Collins, WR Jordy Nelson answered questions in UWP's Williams Fieldhouse Thursday.
  11. UW-Platteville's Joe Lange is the WIAC Pitcher of the Year, and he joined teammates Justin Jacobson and Lee Hawkins on the WIAC first team.

  13. The 4x100 relay team of Alex Switzky, Mitch Spees, Matt Bischoff and Lynn Oyawiri broke the school record, running 41.47 at UW-Madison.
  14. Tera Burr earned two all-region honors, both academically and athletically. Burr, whose .446 average is a WIAC record, carries a 3.75 g.pa.
  15. Jeff Skemp earned the UWP Male Athlete of the Year Award, while Tera Burr and Jessica Scott shared the Female Athlete of the Year Award.
  16. Tera Burr, the best hitter in WIAC history with a .446 average, earned her 4th straight all-conference honor and the co-Scholar-Athlete.
  17. UWP split baseball games with UW-Stevens Point Sunday, winning 4-2 and losing 3-2. Pioneers win 21 games, second-most in school history.
  18. UWP won 4 events at the WIAC track and field championships. Alison Glendenning, Jessica Scott, Andy Melby and Mitch Spees were champions.
  19. Baseball is a funny sport. Game One: UW-Stevens Point 10-1; Game Two: UW-Platteville 11-1. Same teams play tomorrow at noon at UWP.
