  4. The Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail is a few years ahead of us: www.ecattrail.org . You can see that it takes quite a team to do it right.
  5. The AdirondackAlmanack.com has a well-written article about the trail today: http://tinyurl.com/yzaf9mn
  6. Rail WITH Trail? For our corridor, not feasible- many bridges, fills and cuts to widen, and little prospect of railroad use.
  7. There's an article today in the Post-Star about the trail and the PTNY grant. It's to be a multi-use trail, of course.
  8. The new Adk Explorer discusses the tourist railroad to the west and north - should it be a trail? - and talks about our project.
  9. We've won a Healthy Trails Healthy NY grant administered by Parks & Trails NY! This will provide some much needed help and support.

  12. Here's a website of a rail fan *and* cyclist, giving history and details on the rail corridor to Tahawus: http://www.adirondackbranch.net
  13. We and OSI will brief APA's Exec Director Terry Martino and other staff members in December on the potential of the trail.
  14. We're meeting with OSI on Monday to prepare for a meeting with APA.
  15. In 2005, some thought the tracks might still be useful, and the APA was listening, apparently. But times have changed, so this time ....
  16. OSI has announced that they'll build a trail from North Creek to Tahawus! Wait ... that was 2005. Didn't happen - why not? Answer tomorrow.
  17. Two flurries of activity today that came together in an interesting and exciting way. We're going to see the APA soon, and that's important.
  18. A little publicity goes a long way - we have some excellent new people on our team.
  19. There is a posting on the trail on the excellent AdirondackAlmanack.com blog. We've gotten some great letters of support.
  20. Friends of the Upper Hudson Rail Trail are meeting tonight! Wevertown Community Center (28 and 8), 7:00 (6:30 for background presentation).
