  3. Caltrans has finished the sidewalks in front of our building. New curbs, gutter and sidewalks! Minus one tree, temporarily. Access restored!

  14. The Jones Fire continues to be active and is estimated to be about 37 acres and around 50% contained as of Thursday. More on our Web site.
  15. Lightning activity late Tuesday afternoon, July 28, sparked four new fires on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. More on our Web site.
  16. A helicopter working on the Backbone Fire was involved in an accident at 3:16 p.m. Friday. More on the fire, accident on our Web site.
  17. The Backbone Fire has grown to 5,890 acres, U.S. Forest Service officials reported Sunday morning, July 12. More on the Journal's Web site.

  19. The SF Chronicle unveiled its narrower format today. All papers circulating in Trinity County -- daily and weekly -- are now 11 inches wide.
  20. Annual Fourth of July parade to start in 20 minutes in downtown Weaverville. People have been lining the streets since this morning.
