  4. Back from a long trip to La./Texas, with stops throughout the South. Will be writing about them all soon. Loved Galveston and Beaufort, SC!

  6. There's a definite "feel" to the West Coast. If they dropped me in by helicopter, I'd know I was here. The air? Hills? Lattes? Recylables

  8. Among stops on a cross-country drive: Mo. Rt. 66, a dude ranch in Wyoming, hq of the anti-meth campaign in Mont., a 10-year-old city in WA
  9. 5,000 miles later, I'm in sunny Seattle. That's right: sunny! A miracle, since the locals tell me it rains or is cloudy 300 days a year.
  10. My Ohio Amish Country blog is up. Spent Thurs. in astounding St. Joseph, Mo., researching future story on the Pony Express. 150 yrs next yr
  11. About to head down the Mo. portion (and a little of Ok.) of old Route 66. Carol and I have done most of it but somehow missed Mo!

  16. just finished writing about a subject that's close to my heart. It's barns. I'm a suburban guy, but my ancestors were farm folk.
