  1. @pammoran @BeckyFisher73 What's scary is they're already saying we may have to make similar cuts again next year, 3rd year running.
  2. @principalspage We have 22,000 teachers and others in schools. Not sure how many in central office.
  3. @principalspage Yea, we feel very fortunate. :-)
  4. Superintendent says we need to cut 600 positions and it still may not balance the budget. And, of course, we don't get any raises. Again.
  5. Love Evernote! Can capture almost anything I read on my iPhone (web page, tweet, email, etc) directly to my notebook.
  6. Our district has canceled all overnight travel. Even worse, if I pay my own way to a conference, I have to take personal leave.
  7. Math was always my bad subject. I couldn't convince my teachers that many of my answers were meant ironically--Calvin Trillin RT @alfiekohn
  8. Trying to watch MS CEO Ballmer do CES keynote. http://tinyurl.com/y8rosu4 Regardless of what you think of MS vs. Apple, he's no Steve Jobs!
  9. It's rather sad that we seem to assume all students will do the wrong thing and adjust when then don't, instead of the opposite approach.
  10. @twoodwar It's rough everywhere in VA. Our super presents budget to the board on Thursday. No one will be happy with what he has to say!
  11. @jenorr I can certainly see how Yoda would be a Star Wars character that stands out for a six year old.
  12. @jenorr I wonder which iteration of Star Wars kids that age have seen.
  13. Weather folks say we have an Alberta Clipper coming, bringing cold air and snow. Who in Alberta can I complain to? :-)
  14. While driving today, listened to @mcleod challenge the NEA board. http://tinyurl.com/y8f48pt Some nervous people in that audience.
  15. @barrydahl Someone cracked the DRM on the Kindle. It will probably take less time to do the same with whatever Apple comes up with.
  16. Watching kids get intro to iPod Touch project. Very traditional, boring for what should be exciting. http://yfrog.com/4eog0lj
  17. @dougpete When I read the post I was thinking they should have used Yodabytes, representing lots packed into a small (green) package. :-)
  18. @dweinberger notes that the Pentagon is looking at measuring data in units of Yottabytes (10^24 bytes). http://tinyurl.com/yc4pgvy
  19. For self-hosting WordPress users, version 2.9.1 is up, fixing some big bugs from last month's 2.9. http://tinyurl.com/ybvbkhv
  20. @kgd Both are excellent but The Producers is more subtle, if you can possibly apply that word to anything involving Mel Brooks.
