one overall takeaway: scope and breadth of what MS is working on is just stunning. Knew it intellectually, but not in my face like this.
xna: see fragments of MS long-term vision for xbox/zune integration. Not sitting still for ipod/AppleTV (even if original target was PS3)

also cynicism might almost be easier to deal with than earnest differences in worldview
cat/bazaar is less comprehensible gap than free/proprietary gap, possibly- at least less investigated
ah... the 'extend' is 'embed silverlight in the django app'. Sigh. (Appealing tech, though- lots of people will want to do it.)
