  1. #Sherlock_Holmes# If you must re-imagine Holmes as an all-action blockbuster, this is as enjoyable as you'll get. But why must you?
  2. New podcast just posted. Check your iTunes feeds if you've subscribed. And if not, why not? Or head to http://j.mp/7hqRTc to get it direct.
  3. #Avatar# Ugly, obnoxious, boring, heavy-handed 160 odd minute CG snoozathon. Vaunted 3D adds nothing. Empty & souless, a King Kong for 2009.
  4. #Law_Abiding_Citizen# Calling this "far fetched" would be a stunning understatement, but I can't deny that it's massively entertaining.
  5. #The_Final_Destination_3D# A ridiculous gimmick enhances a series based on ridiculous gimmicks. More fun than it has any right to be.
  6. #Sorority Row# Tries very hard to marry conventional slasher structures with ironic, snarky, post Gen-X detachment, but fails.
  7. #Gamer# Probably more entertaining than 'Running Man meets Second Life' would imply, but mainly just a loosely linked series of explosions.
  8. #Inglourious Basterds# Entertaining enough, I guess, but roundly mismarketed, full of filler, completely pointless and not worth the wait.
  9. #Taking Of Pelham 123# While Tony Scott adds nothing to a pointless remake, he doesn't ruin it either. Solid, competent, taut thriller.
  10. #Public_Enemies# Well acted, well shot, well dull. Hardened criminals make for terrible sympathetic characters.
  11. #Looking_For_Eric# Enormously likable character piece cum drama, very human performances, often touching, often funny, always excellent.
  12. #Terminator_Salvation# Had low expectations; still left disappointed. Charmless, artless, and often boring. Stop making films, McG. Please.
  13. #Drag_Me_To_Hell# Evil Dead 4, minus Bruce Campbell and plus a budget. Hilarious stuff. About as scary as a used teabag, though.
  14. #Star_Trek# Science Fiction that's pleasingly free of all of that troublesome "science" stuff. Rip-roaring space opera, hugely enjoyable.
  15. #The_Uninvited# Atrocious mixture of rotten psychological horror and rotten supernatural horror, with a twist that is, surprisingly, rotten.
  16. #Observe_And_Report# Quite unexpectedly dark in tone, with Rogen actually stretching himself for once. Also, is funny. Huzzah!
  17. #Let_The_Right_One_In# Really, it's just an off-kilter adolescence cum relationship drama. With occasional vampire maulings. Good, though.
  18. #In_the_Loop# Swearing may not be big or clever, but it can be very, very funny. Expletive-filled, insult ridden & extremely enjoyable.
  19. #Crank_2:_High_Voltage# Quite impressively silly Jason Statham vehicle that manages to be one of the most entertaining films of the year.
  20. #Dragonball_Evolution# Massively juvenile, but seeing as that's who it's aimed at it'd be churlish to complain.
