  14. Northwestern's webmail interface appears to be down this morning. Kind of odd because it's hosted by Google, and GMail is still up.
  15. @gwenix you can still lose it all; diversification reduces market risk, not systemic risk.
  16. @pajamajeremy so for you, "investment" implies the promise of a return. above inflation? the risk-free rate? zero?
  17. @pajamajeremy @gwenix economically speaking, saving money in a bank is investment, since the bank can use it for its capital base for loans.

  19. Linear algebra is an interesting class, but it highlights my propensity to make arithmetic/transcription errors.
