The crew has parted ways and is off on their own separate adventures. Doug is on his way home with his family. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING TO ALL!
Just about done with this amazing experience! I know that the hard work and sleep deprivation was worth it!
Last Day. Matt hasn't showered since Kansas. GO DOUG!
Ok... The RV is officially broken. After Check Engine and Oil dummy lights lighting up, it shimmies wheb brakes are applied. 250 miles to go
... and Tour de Wal-Mart continues.
Viscious attack dogs, hostile traffic and route changes left no room for error as we left Missouri.
Tip for preparng for RAAM or other ulta long event: Bring anything that beeps-GPSes, phones, FRS radios, etc. FIND-THE-BEEP is a fun game!
Fort Scott is a zombie town. No people anywhere. We MUST leave before dark.
Now we are on our way to Timestation 25 which has free All-you-can-eat McDonallds food. YUM!
We had to run off-course to get some stuff from a Wal-Mart in Liberal, KS. A Liberal in Kansas, who knew?!?
Man, the crosswinds here in Oklahoma are BRUTAL.
Doug crossed into OK ~1h ago, and just passed one of the women riders ... his first live pass!
Doug is jumping in and out of first place (for his agegroup) while the crew fights exhaustion
OMG... The Salton Sea smells like a dirty aquarium. Yuck!
Doug is now just next to the Salton Sea...just over 120 miles through the desert. 100 degrees for a large portion of the day
PASSED INSPECTION! 100%
All the crew has arrived despite the best efforts from the airlines to keep us all apart. The RV is currently on it's way back to base.
Doug and I made it to San Diego safe and sound (despite an hour and 15 minute delay due to plane malfunction)
The good news: I got an empty seat next to me on the plane. The bad news: in the words of George Carlin - "BROKEN PLANE"
