  1. @Farmsteadlady Knit slippers: http://bit.ly/7upxV1 (project 3); crocheted slippers: Felted Granny Slippers on Ravelry. I'm there; same name.
  2. Finished & fulled my 2nd pair of slippers.1st pair knit last week; 2nd pair crocheted this week. Obsessed with warm woolly slippers lately.
  3. @Farmsteadlady So far, the fall potatoes look better than the spring ones. Still haven't got next year's garlic planted. Must do tomorrow!
  4. 2nd crop of potatoes turned out well. French Fingerlings and Mojito Salmon for dinner.
  5. Self-debating whether it's a waste of time to clean the leaves off the deck before it rains. They're falling fast.
  6. 1st seed catalog arrived. Stokes. They have an onion called 'Grateful Red'.
  7. Just uploaded photos for Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day. No blog post as of yet. http://bit.ly/2mIpsA #GBBD
  8. Made Carne Adovada (SW style) from Babes in the Woods pork roast ( forestfed.com ). Very clean-tasting pork; trimmings made good broth too.
  9. Bluebird's song cuts through the fog.
  10. This is SOME storm. Still raining. Been raining since Tuesday afternoon in central VA. No damage here though, didn't even lose electricity.
  11. Tidying up outside before the deluge. Leaves off the deck. Whacked at neighbors' evil Bradford Pear with pole pruner; growing into our holly
  12. Just chased 3 deer out of the woods behind the house; they had settled down for their afternoon nap. Didn't want them to feel too at home.
  13. ...sheep's milk cheeses from Everona Dairy; pork roast and a sausage sandwich from Babes in the Wood; a slice of apple pie from? (very good)
  14. But we bought Black Twig, Albemarle Pippin, Virginia Gold apples from VVA; honey & sorghum molasses from Hungry Hill Farm...
  15. We liked the Vintage Virginia Apple Festival, but VERY disappointed they had no rare heirloom apples for sale this year.
  16. @moranwrite I think I put the 2nd potatoes in early Sept. Would've done earlier but didn't have room. Hope to keep them going thru mid-Nov.
  17. @torontogardens Yeah, have yet to see how it affects star visibility. It was really dark here when we moved in 3 years ago.
  18. @moranwrite We should have some good 2nd crop potatoes even if the plants froze. Apple festival was fun last year; this yr's report later.
  19. @torontogardens I hope they'll get more support with the "wasted energy" argument. New neighbors leave exterior lights on all night AND day.
  20. A very frosty morning here. Hope row covers saved the potato plants. Vintage Virginia Apple festival today! http://bit.ly/3CNZwj
