  1. Her yellow hat always covered her face. Was she human, did she have a face? To me she was a friendly version of Darth Vader from Star Wars.
  2. Simone was blowing circles in the cold morning air as we waited for the traffic to stop. The lollipop lady looked like a shiny yellow tower
  3. "Ha, ha" I replied. We arrived at the zebra crossing on Wigglestead high road opposite Gordonsville School. The lollipop lady was beside us.
  4. We progressed past the Church and the Circular Library building. Tamzina joked, "I bet the Rubberband man eats rubber bands for breakfast!"
  5. He looked up and smiled at us. Simone waved back at him. "Come along Simone, you know I have to get my class ready, and I am a little late".
  6. We crossed over Harvest Moon road, facing the Moorsville post office. Mr. Robson could be seen getting the early morning newspapers ready.
  7. "It's not me, it's Tamzina, she is blocking my way" I said in reply. Tamzina grinned at me as she moved slowly away with her big fluffy coat
  8. Jill grabbed Simone's hand and guided her out of the house, and closed the door. "Avril, get a move on" she said to me in a hurried voice.
  9. The early morning sun made Martin's bicycle sparkle as he cycled down the road towards Hogshead. "Kids, we are also leaving now", said Jill.
  10. The next day started with the usual family breakfast. Then the mass exodus out of the house started. Martin left on his bicycle in silence.
  11. The referee ended the game while the friends where hugging. Simone looked at Avril and asked, "Is it finished now, as I want to go to bed?"
  12. She realised that she had beaten her best friend's Dad at the game he loved. She was dragged to her feet to join the "Go Maci" chants again.
  13. There was silence in the room, as the ball bounced down onto the line and then into the net. "YES" shouted Sameer, but Maci was speechless.
  14. However, there was no whistle, the referee played the advantage. "No" cried Martin. The ball hit the underside of the bar and bounced down..
  15. Landon Donovan slowed down and executed a perfect chip, just as the sliding tackle from John Terry sent him flying to the ground, FOUL..
  16. Maci knew that to be sure of scoring, it was best to chip the advancing keeper, and she knew the best place was near the penalty box. So...
  17. Martin pressed the "Y" button; to bring Robert Green, the England goalkeeper, out to cut off the American striker's run. Now it was 1 on 1.
  18. Landon Donovan was dribbling steadily toward the English goal, with the mud flicking up off his boots, the England defenders in his wake.
  19. "No" shouted Martin. This was greeted with a chorus of "Go Maci, Go Maci", and was in turn greeted with "it's very late you know" from Jill.
  20. "Maci, it is going to be a draw" said Sameer with a sigh. Brian Ching played a through ball to Landon Donovan, past the English defenders.
