  2. @duffmcduffee Exactly! And you still have the earth and the natural world just about everywhere, which people seem to forget about too.
  3. In doing this we cut ourselves off from other possible/unconventional/creative ways of experiencing our neighborhoods, towns, and cities.
  4. As adults we are quick to accept the consensus version of the places we visit - LA is "fake," SF is "progressive," etc.
  5. In this way they unknowingly create an existence far richer than that of the average adult, who treads tired, worn, practical, public paths.
  6. Children are naturally, spontaneously in touch with the world around them. They readily stop to play, touch, breathe, and follow.
  7. ...but these contrived environments actually alienate us from the deeper nature/energy of the lands we inhabit.
  8. Most ppl are accustomed to moving thru the world via the streets and "consumer avenues" which have been laid out for us...
  9. would like to see a big budget hollywood blockbuster about organic portals and "walk-ins."
  10. Encountered timid lizards, jays, wrens, a grasshopper, fragrant rosemary, flowers, mature trees, lots of sunlight and sweet-smelling air.
  11. Long walks thru undeveloped areas in/around your neighborhood are a great way to reestablish connection with the land you live on.
