  5. Finally decided that I must tell him of my concerns.
  6. He sees them as little more than a sect of the Jews. Yet I suspect that they are something new.
  7. @balbinus_pompus holds them in disdain, but I think he is unable to discuss them rationally.
  8. Have been pondering the best way to approach @balbinus_pompus regarding the threat of the followers of @TheNazarene.
  9. But our own convictions have faded, and in such conditions, a new order might indeed arise. @balbinus_pompus must be warned.

  16. Thus a conviction is a belief that one holds with such certainty that it has the power to convict--to conquer--others.
  17. And one's example, of course, is living proof of one's own convictions.
  18. Thus, to convince is to conquer with an argument or other means--even simply the means of one's example.
  19. Vincere means to conquer. The prefix "con-" means "with."
  20. Yet convincere means so much more.
