  10. 144: God is our rock & our fortress, our stronghold & our deliverer, our shield in whom we take refuge (2).
  11. 143: i stretch out my hands to you, my soul thirsts for you (6). praying our desire for God.
  12. 142: to cry to the lord, to pour out your complaints, to talk about your troubles. prayer as honest conversation.
  13. 141: my prayers rise like incense, my hands like the evening sacrifice (2). remembering evening prayers with the benedictines at st john's.
  14. 140: "i know the lord maintains the cause of the needy, and executes justice for the poor" (12).
  15. psalm 139: an absolutely exquisite psalm. we are and always have been known and loved, & the lord is always with us. find it and read it!
  16. 138: again, i had never realized how different this psalm is (and 136) from 137; in the midst of great dissonance & despair we give thanks

  18. 136: it never dawned on me how radically different this psalm is from the next, psalm 137. steadfast love or total disconnect from God?
  19. 135: when we make idols, and trust in idols, we become like our idols...(18).
  20. 134: lift up your hands to the holy place and bless the lord. and may the lord, who created you, bless you as well.
