  1. Good to twitter (tweet?) with you gentlemen - same time next year? And thanks to Alex for organising all the clever stuff. Running out of...
  2. Quiet end to the hour - sparrows tweeting from the roof. Still waiting for the Red Kite (maybe next year)!
  3. Impressed by your figures Richard! Robin just started singing - I thought they went quiet in June-July so maybe this is a late starter!
  4. It's very quiet compared with winter isn't it - May would probably yield more bird species/numbers but less other stuff...
  5. OK Richard - gloves off. What's your garden list standing at?! Mine's 74 birds, 19 butterflies and 12 dragons & damsels.
  6. My e-mail shows interesting selection of people following this - from West Midland Bird Club to California lady who likes phone s*x. Hmm.
  7. Herring gull mobbing very pale buzzard overhead - the rooks give the buzzards stick too.
  8. Stock dove flies out of the big ash tree - haven't seen them lately but they tend to hide away... a much overlooked but rather lovely bird.
  9. Blackbird singing somewhere, flock of goldfinches twittering (!) and another small tortoiseshell or the same one flying back and forth.
  10. How is your dad coping with the media spotlight Alex?!
  11. Tantalising glimpse of what was probably a painted lady - but it flew straight off as they tend to. Have had loads in the garden this year.
  12. We used to get loads of parakeets at our garden in hampton - know you're not supposed to say you like them but I do!
  13. Nice pic Alex - mike would know but he's at an RSPB reserve - Pulborough Brooks! Connection may not work as he's very quiet - not like him!
  14. Alex - why don't you try eating it and see if the live blog becomes a medical emergency blog?! Could do wonders for the ratings...
  15. Hang on Darren - you're at the Lodge?Isn't that cheating?! ! next time I'm going to do my blog from Costa Rica!
  16. My son George makes his own contribution to the survey - rabbit poo. Badgers have also dug holes all over the lawn.
  17. I take a swing at a passing white butterfly and am in luck - a large white, soon to lay its eggs on our nasturtiums no doubt!
  18. Darren - you obvioulsy live somewhere wooded! We get great spots here (nesting in the apple tree) but never seen a nuthatch!
  19. Chaffinch flies overhead, calling, and small tortoiseshell on the nettles - laying eggs?
  20. I finally manage to catch one of the blue damselflies, and with the help of a magnifying glass ID it as azure...
