  1. @justinspratt What are we going to battle about? @IvoVegter and I are already an indivisible wall of OSS zealot ;P
  2. @IvoVegter Heh, glad we agree. Linux users of the world unite. Enjoyed the rest of the podcast.
  3. @justinspratt Populism may have muddies the waters, but there were solid arguments that weren't and can't be discounted because of noise.
  4. @IvoVegter Saying it provides some benefits to some people in some way is enough of a backtrack to void the original statement ;)
  5. Direct download for that previous tweet is at http://is.gd/1zye8
  6. My take on online privacy was nicely distilled by Jade at the Fin24 podcast http://is.gd/1zy6k
  7. Morning Johannesburg, it's freezing.
  8. @hfordsa I didn't read the link, but the thrush reference seemed out of place. Need a good antifungal or did you mean something else?
  9. @justinspratt Wait, I think I got what you agree/disagree with the wrong way around.
  10. @justinspratt While those benefits are more useful to small companies than monopolies, preventing them holds the industry back.
  11. @justinspratt Also, open standards benefit companies by allowing third parties to build on your stuff or to integrate better (sales point)
  12. @justinspratt You can disagree, but the antitrust judgements against MS weren't knee jerks, they were the result of an intense debate.
  13. @simondingle Thanks for making the ID number story sound much cooler than it was #zatechshow
  14. "Microsoft's the better company to trust with private info these days" Not necessarily, they've the same drivers as Google www.is.gd/1yAcT
  15. @simondingle Sure, it seems you've drawn me in ;) I'll bring the tin foil in case you guys didn't bring yours. #zatechshow
  16. #zatechshow "Open standards is in no one's benefit except the end user" First, you're wrong, second, you mean the end user i.e. the planet?
  17. I'm obviously interested in that point since the claim was that I "think Google is evil" for the same reasons. #zatechshow
  18. #zatechshow "People bashed Microsoft/IBM/Oracle because they were big" That is a terrible straw man of a lot of legitimate arguments.
  19. Was just blindsided in a podcast by @simondingle he's very sneaky.
  20. @thamsanqa I think I know about the sms banking scam, not involved though.
