  2. Simpson's lawyers have filed the appeal; the DA will file a counter appeal within approx. 8 weeks. The case will likely be heard this fall.
  3. Lawyers for both defendants will appeal the decision.
  4. Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison with no chance of parole for 9 years. Stewart was given 27 years with no parole for 7.5 years.
  5. Stewart has been assigned fixed concurrent terms of 15 years in prison with parole eligibility of five years on charges five and six.
  6. "The jury convicted you and now I’ll sentence you," Glass said.
  7. "I pray for mercy ... that I do not spend the rest of my natural life behind bars," Stewart, 54, said.
  8. Stewart is addressing the court. "I now stand before this court a convicted felon," he said.
  9. "I didn’t mean to hurt anybody and I didn’t mean to steal from anybody," Simpson said, his voice unsteady as he concluded his remarks.
  10. "I didn’t know I was doing anything illegal. I thought I was confronting friends and retrieving my property," he said.
  11. "I stand before you today, sorry, somewhat confused," Simpson said as he addressed the court.
  12. Galanter called Simpson's actions on Sept. 13, 2007, "a highly emotional, stupid act that violated the law."
  13. Galanter told Glass that Simpson would like to address the court. The former NFL star will speak after Galanter delivers his remarks.
  14. "There was one ringleader in this case and that was Mr. Simpson," Roger said.
  15. "I don't think that Mr. Stewart is as culpable," Roger said.
  16. Bail has been denied. "I believe they're both flight risks," Glass said, of Simpson and Stewart.
  17. Simpson's lawyer, Yale Galanter, has requested Simpson be granted bail.
  18. Judge Jackie Glass has taken the stand. Proceedings have begun.
  19. Dressed in navy blue inmate attire, O.J. Simpson has entered the courtroom. Clarence "C.J." Stewart has also taken his seat.
  20. O.J. Simpson's sentencing hearing will begin in just over half an hour.
