  11. After a two-year hiatus, I've begun work on Acovea again. GCC has far too many odd options to guess their true efficacy in numerical work.
  12. Same C# assembly, same system hardware: 1:15s under Vista .Net 3.5, and 5:16s under Ubuntu Mono. Heavy numerical code...
  13. When hunting algorithms today, Bing has been providing better results than Google. Just sayin'...
  14. As of today, I've switched from Gentoo to Kubuntu. Kubuntu installed quickly with sound and wireless. Very nice.
  15. Sotomayor will bring a *different* bias to the Supreme Court. For those who believe in the strength of diversity, this is a GOOD thing.
  16. I solved the Ubuntu 9.04 lock-up on the old MPC. Turned off the wireless, ran CAT6 to the switch. Been stable all morning.
  17. Clients never want to hear about testing code. They *still* think programming is only drawing screens in Visual Studio. Grumble...
