  1. @missmass I don't rewrite blurbs, I extend them with publisher-supplied texts, usually from AIs
  2. Discovered the wonders of TweetDeck - and all the mentions I've missed! Working through them now - thanks for all the messages.
  3. RT @PublishScotland: Publishing Scotland now has a Facebook page http://bit.ly/5XaI3x
  4. Started two twitter lists @scottishbooks/publishers and @scottishbooks/authors - still a bit sparse so suggestions sought!
  5. Saltire Society shortlist now live on BfS.com; Royal Mail Children's Awards will follow announcement later this afternoon
  6. LD: Fighting my normal bah-humbug tendencies to put together the BfS.com Christmas offer; details to follow next week
  7. Just how long should a book blurb be? We see all sorts at BfS.com, from the tiny to the verbose. I often replace the blurbs with better text
  8. LD: I've been reading Iain Banks' latest, Transition. So far so good; glad it's not another epic-but-unsatisfying Culture novel
  9. I'd quite like you all to stop using Internet Explorer please. It's broken.
  10. LD: Need to enthuse about Henryson's "The Testament of Cresseid"; unfortunately, I know nothing about it. Help required!
  11. Hosted the (re)launch of the Society of Young Publishers in Scotland last night - great attendence & event. Chocolate cake much appreciated
  12. Finally posted our article on the future of poetry publishing; only about 3 months late. Links to follow soon.
  13. Hunting for Scottish books about France and the French - any thoughts?
  14. LD: Not sure where to begin today; so many things to do.
  15. Just had my first phone call of the day; the office is empty besides me and it is very quiet. Distractions welcome!
  16. Seeking suggestions for the best desktop eBook reader. Not hugely impressed with Stanza so far
  17. LD: I wonder why I get a flurry of followers after I tweet?
  18. Keep Chambers in Edinburgh - sign the petition in support of Chambers Dictionaries http://bit.ly/no4e8
  19. LD: Finally finished being a geek, shall return to books and authors and writing next week. I promise!
  20. LD: I know I'm supposed to be tweeting about books and literature and authors, but I'm knee deep in XML and JavaScript right now
