  1. Thanks for all the feedback on the title. It sounds like ya'll really want to walk into the "THICKET" with me.
  2. New blog post: Interview with @dnnewark about gay men of color & their relationship to reading & writing. http://bit.ly/8rJPdd
  3. @shy2del I think you're right. Now that I've said both titles out loud to my cocker spaniel a few times. I feel like "Thicket" is better.
  4. @DeeshaPhilyaw Susan is one of the most accessible writers I know. Of all places, I met her in Jericho Brown's hotel room at AWP. Don't ask.
  5. Debating on a title for a poem. Which do you prefer "Thicket" or "In the Thicket"? I keep going back & forth.
  6. Of course, this is just my opinion, my ars poetica so if you aren't feeling me. "It will cost you nothing; pay me no mind." Jay-Z
  7. Your poem might have a cool concept or idea, but poetry is about words - like movies are about images - so words take priority over ideas.
  8. I consider poets like Patricia Smith & Susan Somers-Willet my mentors. In their poems, every word is the perfect word. Every line sings.
  9. In a poem, the difference between words like "webbed" and "laced" is everything. That's what I'm working on today.
  10. Okay, I'm (slowly) going through the first section of my manuscript.. Wading through every word in each poem.
  11. RT @OBermeo: @saeedjones The way Bob Kaufman is left out of so much Beat history always makes me wince.
  12. @dnnewark Thanks for sharing, love. I will check this out after my morning meditation.
  13. What else have we edited out of the history books? "Stories are told to replace other stories." - Beckian Fritz Goldberg
  14. @LifeofSubstance True. We already know that MLK & other civil rights leaders worked hard to keep their gay marchers on the DL.
  15. RT @LifeofSubstance: @saeedjones i just read that recently...it makes me wonder what else we just edit out of our history...
  16. Shout out to @reetamac for knowing how to efficiently say what's exactly on my mind.
  17. Quick poll: How many of you knew that Malcolm X had a bisexual past & how has that impacted your perception of him?
  18. @basseyworld I haven't had my coffee yet.. I'm not ready to be laughing this hard. I'm running from the computer now to go make a cup.
  19. RT @freshalina: Fever Pitch: Norwood Young http://url4.eu/oRJL
  20. @freshalina I was wondering who that kind was. Thanks for letting us know.
