  1. In unrelated news, had an interesting discussion with the 15YO about copyright, due to jazz recordsing before 1928 being in the PD.
  2. @sarahannalien Yes, trying to get excited about a delayed or thanksgiving-and-a-half.
  3. @miah_ I've had an opportunity to use a gas grill a couple of times. I might go for one of those next. BBQ Turkey would be more viable then.
  4. @zate No kidding. Fortunately, I have some credits saved up with the wife. The crying kids is a bit rough, though.
  5. @miah_ I have done cobbler-ish things in a dutch oven with the Boy Scouts over a campfire. I know it's doable. Just not quite the same.
  6. @SquirrelMaster It died a while back, and we didn't get around to replacing it.
  7. @TheSuggmeister If I can't get the oven fixed Friday or Saturday, I may try BBQing. Nothing to lose, then.
  8. @jan001 Yep. Someday I'm sure I'll look back on it and hope it doesn't happen again.
  9. @snowfl0w Yeah, I'm not going to go for burning down my deck...
  10. Moral of the story: Whirlpool doesn't recommend using the oven's self-cleaning feature immediately before a major holiday... now I know.
  11. @miah_ We could maybe pull off one that way... she was about to make 9. We'll probably just delay until the oven's fixed.
  12. Thanks everyone for the sympathy and ideas!
  13. OK, tantrum over. I think we'll try to save the turkey for when the oven's fixed. Will go shopping in the morning, do other dishes on stove.
  14. @Astrogirl426 Those are wasted. Maybe the turkey, depending on when we can get the oven fixed.
  15. @Astrogirl426 I think I'm going to go with the sulking. I think most of the food will keep. Wife got as far as a bunch of bottom pie crusts.
  16. BBQ instructions... http://bit.ly/6CTcIG ..I'd need a meat thermometer... would take as much as 6 hours... no hope for the pies.
  17. @causticjb 23lb turkey. Several hours? Tips for how to keep a charcoal grill going that long?
  18. @SquirrelMaster I need my deck on fire, too?
  19. NIcely played, sir. RT @cyberlocksmith: @ryanlrussell i have two words for you "Peking Duck" http://bit.ly/2j23q sorry could not resist =)
  20. @danielkennedy74 Trying to imagine how to cook 9 pies over a campfire....
