  1. @mrgunn I know what you mean. I had to watch the movie to discover Ray Charles had died. In 2004.
  2. Timezone confusion (mine!) Chat is 6PM GMT, 1PM EST. Tues, Nov 24 Sorry about that. #askdrstu
  3. @openculture I waited eagerly for publication of those early Salinger stories altho I've had them in a pirated edition for 20+ years.
  4. Orion's dark secret: Violence shaped the night sky New Scientist article by @drstuclark: http://bit.ly/81wrqw #askdrstu #astronomy
  5. Because the more ineffective they are at using SM, the less clouded very real issues become. I mean they've coined phrase 'Big Environment'!
  6. Rather than argue w/right-wing Vancouver-based think tank re sadly poor use of SM in general & Twitter in particular, I'll just unfollow.
  7. @UBCBookstore I'd sworn off Brookner - same novel over & over - but after this review of Strangers, I'll read: http://tinyurl.com/yz9o2eo
  8. @Eaterofsun But I say that b/c my Blackberry-owning friend is quite sick w/lust for my iPod touch (I won't let him touch it).
  9. @Eaterofsun I think you want an iPod, not a Blackberry. (That wasn't really helpful, was it?) ;)
  10. @nigelbeale I think Zadie Smith is discovering truth of the truism, 'Prose writers mature late.' Jury's still out on her as writer IMNHO.
  11. Canadian research project to study link between mental illness & homelessness - interestingly designed study: http://tinyurl.com/yzol9d6
  12. RT @2020science: Obama's speech on the #STEM education initiative is being live streamed NOW! Watch it here: http://ow.ly/ETR5 (via @Sc ...
  13. @PR4Science I know exactly what you mean. This is the first time in my life I've experienced sun in November - it's quite amazing.
  14. @Laelaps I think key to writing long is planning. I once spent 3 mos. planning screenplay adaptation, then could write a scene in 30 mins.
  15. @npbooks How long do you think that site w/Salinger short stories will be up? They're pirated; appeared in book form (2 vols.) in late 70s.
  16. @skyponderer No kidding. I only got 1:30 into it. My inquiring mind isn't even curious about Vin Diesel, much less accuracy of his wheelies!
  17. @Laelaps They've got some great titles (looking @ Strange Bedfellows). What's it like going to Bellevue to meet w/them though? Must be wild.
  18. Oh dear. Even granted people are resistant to change, this new AOL logo - erm - sucks: (via @paulbalcerak & @bryanzug). http://j.mp/5AheNp
  19. @curlydena It's ok - you couldn't beat # of typos in that blog post even if you tried. Hope they clean them up.
  20. @Laelaps Who's your publisher, Brian? I look forward to reading Written in Stone.
