  1. Staffing at Freeport is attentive and helpful. The sun's coming through my window as I visit with M and P.
  2. M. and I have decided to apply for hospice care for me at Lesaard House or Freeport . An assessment will be done early next week.
  3. Don is sleeping most of the time, no major changes however. Often very confused due to medication and progression of disease.
  4. Tues had ERCP but Dr unable to put in a stent; hoping for another drainage option; very tired; sleeping most of the day
  5. Palliative care doctor had me come in a week early to get blood work done. Jaundice is still obvious, but no worse. Very, very tired.
  6. Call from palliative care doctor re jaundice Mon. am; minimal evidence of blockage on right/left branches; plan for new CT scan to compare.
  7. Visit from nurse and doctor re jaundice; next step an ultra sound; may require stent procedure; clearly some health still left in the liver.
  8. Symptoms of jaundice - yellow tinge to skin, light coloured stool, dark coloured urine, itchy skin. Jaundice, MCRC, liver failure.
  9. With the higher does opiods, I am sleeping a lot more. Ever so gradually I am starting to feel a little better. Please be patient with email
  10. After consultation, have increased fentanyl patch by 33% and added more medication. Still very tired. Thank God for my palliative care team.
  11. Two days of extra dilaudid to counteract considerable pain in the rectum and buttocks. OTOH, good visits with my siblings, and their kids.
  12. Next step - consultation with haematologist about the IVC filter. Can we replace the filter?
  13. Another good day. Still contemplating meaning of CT scan results - good, bad, indifferent? Good week visiting friends. Still reading SF.
  14. Successfully completed CT scan yesterday. Afternoon and evening tough. Frequent BMs. More dilaudid for pain. Swollen legs. Nurse today.
  15. Pain returns with a vengeance. Incredibly drowsy. Mixing up reality and non-reality (dreams, TV, books, etc). Don't ask for my opinion!
  16. What's a pleasant way of saying I'm "running" to the bathroom every few minutes? Oh, there isn't one? Let's just say it's an uneven recovery
  17. Family/friends visiting again after a needed break. New Paramed nurse. Still requiring a lot of sleep. Not enough energy to blog just yet.
  18. @mitch Thanks. I'd like to think the universe agrees with you that I deserve a break from pain, pain meds, etc.
  19. Finally looks like I'm over the viral infection. Using far fewer dilaudid. Sleeping well. Feeling pretty good, albeit quite weak.
  20. Still drowsier/tired than normal. Appetite starting to come back gradually. I guess my resources are pretty thin these days.
