  1. Today's column compares Firefox 3.5, Safari 4 and Chrome 2 and notes how open-source code helps keep them ahead of IE: http://bit.ly/OcF4b
  2. The U.S. has needed a few bug fixes and patches over the years, but I think it's scaled pretty well overall. Happy birthday, America!
  3. Friend who works at a defense contractor (General Dynamics) said they're giving in and allowing cameraphones at work.
  4. Colleagues in @PostSports experimenting with crowdsourced #Nats game coverage via Twitter: http://bit.ly/Nt4Om
  5. Realized anew advantages of my name talking w/ coworkers (e.g., @ezraklein dismayed to appear past Better Than Ezra in "ezra" searches)
  6. Here it is, half past beer o'clock, and I'm still wrapping up things at the office. Why am I not surprised by this?
  7. @ron_miller The wrinkle they're adding is the ability to send an update only to a subset of contacts--you can avoid spamming real friends.
  8. @ron_miller Hmm. It can be tricky to get traffic on a public page, and Fb's new publisher options can let you do PR from yr normal profile.
  9. @PRCog Chatty and undisciplined--the kind of person who would waste time in Twitter conversations on deadline. Oh, wait...
  10. Draft of my Firefox 3.5/Safari 4/Chrome 2 review is what my old editor @craigstoltz called "10 lbs. of [stuff] in a 5-lb. bag." Must trim..
  11. Good news: I can take tomorrow off! Bad news: I have to do tomorrow's work today! #fb
  12. Local blog WeLoveDC.com is having a first-anniversary party near my office; might have to stop by to see how this sort of CRM works...
  13. Today's Facebook privacy updates (http://bit.ly/8xAn0) include a detail I missed before, the end of regional networks: http://bit.ly/1anWs9
  14. If you encrypt your files, how do you ensure your heirs can get access to them? @doctorow explains his solution: http://bit.ly/g6G3h
  15. FYI: If you want to know my e-mail address, asking me for it will only waste time--it's at the end of every column I write.
  16. Wiping the memory on two review items--Kindle DX, Palm Pre. I've really grown to appreciate devices that make this task simple.
  17. @jcg1483 Colleague of mine has one and likes it a lot--says the Ovi store has been working better lately. May need to try it myself...
  18. In other news, I'm typing this in Firefox 3.5. Are you reading it in the same browser? If so, what do you think of the update? #fb
  19. @jcg1483 Nope, and no plans to. A $699 phone--sold only online and at Nokia's NYC and Chicago stores--is irrelevant in the consumer market.
  20. Other Best Buy observations: Blu-ray players and DVD players/recorders didn't even fill one aisle; typically nonexistent HD Radio marketing.
