  1. getting ready to go to England for 1st meeting to talk about Gamburtsev Mtn Data! should be fun.
  2. just back from Polar Year Celebration in Geneva. Awesome science. My dad has been following twitter for months!
  3. cool to hear all IPY science in program @ AAAS. On way home 2 see valentine.
  4. found missing xmas presents in corner of house! toys for all. to bad family thought I was a grinch in December:(
  5. enjoyed the full moon on the snow last night but worrying snow here may disappear soon.
  6. dawn ski on 3 inches of ice not 3 km. snow here is faster @ 18F not -30C
  7. home! flowers @ the airport and a ski through the woods. keeps on getting dark!
  8. have crossed antarctica & 2 oceans (Southern & Pacific) only need to cross North America before getting home! talk 2 family dog sledding
  9. eating salad in auckland waiting for flight across pacific. home for waffles on sunday with any luck!
  10. in new zealand... wearing sleeveless top... not fleece today. nead north again --- home late sat night - shower now
  11. all boxes packed, bags ready to go on herc. last midnight hike in Antarctica. head north after breakfast.
  12. back in McMurdo - Herc Lagged for sure. 13th attempt to get flight into field camp suceeded
  13. finished the complete survey on saturday ... blowing snow no visibility... waiting for ride to mcmurdo. tempers flaring over scrabble
  14. unplugging iridium modem -- no email till mcmurdo in a couple of days.
  15. the british plane just left for McMurdo. SJB is flying over the recovery lakes. another c-130 on its way.
  16. both planes grounded by weather again. may sun dogs no flying.
  17. can count the # of flights remaining on one hand! 2nd night in a row c130's pass us by. this time at 50 feet. those left behind restless
  18. flight up over the chinese Dome A base is on the way back. still very windy. they are coming back early.
  19. water in fuel slowing survey down. 9 flights left. weather getting cooler.
  20. electrical cables now in the science tent. soon we can turn off the noisy 5kW genertors that have been powering everything.
