@ Well, I very rarely use the dock, so it's size is irrelevant. I keep it very small, and I close windows in apps I'm not using

@ With limited resources, your method makes perfect sense, and is close to how I use my MBP. On MP, though, leaving them open=faster

@ Sadly, Apple disabled that hack long before Snow Leopard came out. There is no decent workaround other than buying Remote Desktop
