  1. @johnhalton What's an OS rebuild w/o a gut-wrenching bug? Even after building servers for years, I get nervous when rebuilding my desktop...
  2. @johnhalton So when do you take the plinth? "Man rebuilds Debian desktop. May contain profanity and bits of shattered computer casing." ;-)
  3. Troilus and Cressida was great. Now racing to train station to try and catch one to Farnborough before it gets any later.
  4. In our seats at the Globe. This is already fun and the play hasn't even started. The theatre itself creates great energy.
  5. Spent a couple hours working, then toured the National Portrait Gallery and swung by Buckingham Palace. Presently walking to The Globe.
  6. @johnhalton We're seeing Troilus & Cressida. Seats are in the Upper Gallery.
  7. Best of times: Seeing a play at the Globe tonight. Worst of times: Must check out, catch train to Farnborough, and prep for work tomorrow.
  8. @undegaussable Yes, it was Chimes. We had a great time! I had the Poacher's Pie (aka The London Zoo Pie), wife had the Steak and Mushroom.
  9. @johnhalton Yep, London Eye, drinks at a pub beneath one of the bridges, dinner, and a walk along the Thames. A great night, rain included.
  10. Lost American asked for directions. After helping, she asked if I'd lived in London my entire life. No ma'am, but we do have maps in Ohio.
  11. @johnhalton We were just across the Thames from the houses of parliament this evening. Got a good look at Big Ben's birthday celebration.
  12. @johnhalton I was thinking of last night's conversation as I watched them try to break the glass and make off with the cookies.
  13. @Terrible_Swede Traveling with a pregnant woman is limiting my beer sampling. Had some great cider with @johnhalton last night, though.
  14. In Costa Coffee. A man's pair of sons are literally scaling the dessert case. After all this history, they look like an invading hoarde...
  15. @danatnr At WA, without apology, they hush the crowd of tourists every hour and pray in the name of Christ.
  16. @danatnr Thinking of any US historical site that involved explicit Christian worship in its past. Often we apologize for that heritage.
  17. @jrhermeneut @johnhalton Last comment: As an American I more fully realize our tremendous debt to Britain when standing in WA. Overwhelming.
  18. @jrhermeneut @johnhalton Parallels in the US are very hush-hush regarding their Christian roots.
  19. @jrhermeneut @johnhalton Nontheless, presentation was explicitly Christian, giving explanation of eucharist, baptism, church community, etc.
  20. @jrhermeneut @johnhalton Agree re WA being "civic." Could definitely use a dose of Luther's two kingdoms.
