  1. @Ben_Hall rather depends on the definition of a compute hour - maxed out 0.12 x 24 * 31 = $89.28/month (misses bandwidth + storage)
  2. (that is after I go back and simplify the overly complex filing system)
  3. Is at "Inbox Zero"! (At least for his work inbox.) Not enough in itself but a start and next objective is to manage issues arising.
  4. Still can't get a Zune and still can't get a Kindle (in the UK). So much for Global brands...
  5. Is configuring a shiny new W2k8 dedicated server - this is so much nicer than 2k3 (even without the web platform installer).
  6. @simontbird there's a whole long list... but somehow I don't think that I'll manage much!
  7. @smutbike should work a treat - c.f. various Zox tandems: http://www.zoxbikes.com/mai...
  8. Grammar pedantry (-: That would be a displacement activity )-:
  9. @Ben_Hall - surely the point is that you /can/ but that for it to be effective you must resist the temptation so to do?
  10. Endeavouring not to fritter the day away (have at least cleared out the drain in front of the garage!)
  11. @westleyl odds are I would be too - don't get out nearly enough and worse now working from home. Fast bike + slow rider!
  12. @ericnel possibly, yes, yes, yes and - oh wait, those are (always) in London - 4 hours and a lot of pennies away )-:
  13. @codinghorror hmm, how long might the indexes take to rebuild and what would be the effect on performance whilst they are doing so?
  14. @blowdart Magistrate rather than Judge - there's a bit of a difference... but interesting nevertheless.
  15. @blowdart I'm not that far ahead of you really... I can make linq do lots of stuff, my concern is (will be) how efficient it is
  16. @blowdart - if you've *got* the result as enumerable then it won't re-run the query which is what I meant. This where linq gets challenging!
  17. @blowdart rather depends on what you've done with the query results... at the most basic level a .count() does what it says...
  18. @blowdart I'm wasn't attempting anything clever but I've very rarely played client side (yet) it made what I needed almost trivial..
  19. Just used jquery in anger for the first time. Impressed (-:
  20. So whilst the speed through BE is great, the "BeBox" (a Thompson) turns out to be a steaming pile of... its now just a bridge to better toys
