  1. Phew. That was a month. Changed jobs, sold a house, moved a thousand miles away. Excited to be back in Calgary - such a great city!
  2. I wanted to say something truly momentous for my 300th tweet, but I think I have tweeter's block.
  3. @echogarrett I did a TnT marathon in Portland several years ago. Great city, great race. And if you like books, it's got Powell's.
  4. Shame on Israel; shame on Canada. http://bit.ly/Iz4Fj - via @globeandmail: Israel targets Palestinian-Canadians
  5. Why oh why does my XM radio now require regular web refreshings? Is it the new Pioneer XM MP3? Never had to do this with my old Delphi.
  6. Just took "Which Crazy Writer Are You?" and got: F. Scott Fitzgerald! Try it ➔ http://bit.ly/1f1TnI
  7. Finishing up Ford's Independence Day and galloping straight on to Lay of the Land. My money says Ford's got the hat trick, but we'll see.
  8. @kayenchante At the risk of stating an obvious one, Midnight's Children, by Salman Rushdie; far, far superior to The Satanic Verses.
  9. Matrix x Bourne Identity x Jaws x M. Peake x M. Foucault x J. Derrida x J. Fowles x Wizard of Oz = bastard lovechild, The Raw Shark Texts.
  10. @bmswpg Congrats to you too! I guess we missed each other by a few weeks in a local mat ward. We have 2-week-old, goes by name of Spencer.
  11. Oldie but goodie: Richard Ford’s The Sportswriter offers much, including thoughtful, writerly take on writing. http://tinyurl.com/lk9fyn
  12. @bmswpg I feel your pain.
  13. Important change to my Twitter bio: as of 07/08/09, 6:03 pm, 'father-to-be' became 'father,' thanks to arrival of baby boy, 7 lb 4 oz.
  14. This is shaping up to be a very auspicious day. July 8, 2009. That's 07/08/09.
  15. "Love is holy because it is like grace - the worthiness of its object is never really what matters." Marilynne Robinson, Gilead.
  16. Classic Wimbledon final. Wow.
  17. @randypenner Classic Barry. But was it more subtle? "Never, ever ask a woman if she's pregnant unless you're actually in a delivery room."
  18. 'B is for Beer' by Tom Robbins is flat, with an imperceptible alcohol content. Kinda fun to review, though. http://proseparsed.com/
  19. I’ve never understood the concept of "summer reading." As if most people read Proust in the winter, then suddenly switch to Dan Brown.
  20. I decided to stop tweeting about how great Denis Johnson's novel Tree of Smoke is. Blogged about it instead: http://proseparsed.com/
