  1. 36 years on from this essay on cars in society by André Gorz, and it's if anything *more* pertinent: http://is.gd/4RzH8 #copenhagenize
  2. RT: @bengoldacre: Foreign newspapers consider blocking UK access because of libel laws: don't blame them http://bit.ly/2cDCUZ #uklibel
  3. wondering how many "outraged" people have thrown the cost of one call at the production company, let alone dozens :) #xfactor
  4. Heh. That's (again) what you get engineering a prog for max phone-in income, pretending the result has anything to do with singing #xfactor
  5. Hope that's true: I got taken up there by my parents when I was Very Small; I remember more about the lifts than the revolving top :)
  6. RT: @dysonjeremy: Mark Gatiss informs me that the revolving restaurant in the Post Office Tower is about to reopen. London will swing again
  7. …before going back to being a soft Northern jessie in the interminable flatness of #Hull
  8. cycled up Ashley Hill, past the top of St Andrew's Park, down Glos Rd, and up Zetland Rd/South Rd for what may be the last time ever…
  9. @dnotice of course, lynching saves an awful lot of trouble and public expense. #justice
  10. @dnotice looks a bit funny, therefore suspicious, therefore arrested, therefore guilty and convicted; therefore publicly executed. #justice
  11. @JeanAnnVK aargh! where to start? :) not something that'll fit into a tweet, for sure; Google "semantic markup" or try eg http://is.gd/4N3di
  12. @JeanAnnVK proper semantic markup (ie. structure of content matches the content itself), so screenreaders can make sensible decisions.
  13. @Codepope /me cries
  14. @davemjohnson it's a status return, wanted to hang details off the value; "if (ok==false) f(ok.detail)" AOT "if (!ok) f(ok.detail)" is ugly.
  15. language design FAIL if you can't write "if (Boolean_object) {}" and have it work as you'd expect.
  16. Never had reason to use Javascript Boolean objects before; turns out they always evaluate to true (need valueOf() method to get a false out)
  17. @dhmorton it's not good enough; I expect better aim next time an opportunity arises.
  18. RT: @chickyog: Sting plays Tashkent for Islam Karimov’s daughter... http://is.gd/4MIrj [I think "utter shit" sums him up pretty well]
  19. @dnotice considering the Mail's affiliations 70-odd years ago, falling foul of Godwin in the main article is a mite foolish
  20. Happy Birthday to @ramtops, my best friend, partner in life and work, and fellow catslave
