  12. @maarten Most people create a new AMI from a running instance from the cmdline. It is usually the quickest way and easily scriptable.

  17. @maarten AWS is a very compelling platform. There are tools/UI that make things far simpler.
  18. @elasticsecurity There is no way to use one EC2 object to request either regions AFIK
  19. @elasticsecurity Using that Ruby object you can only make req to EU. You will need a separate object for US region.
  20. @elasticsecurity You should be able to specify the EU endpoint like this (:server =>'eu-west-1.ec2.amazonaws.com')
