  1. Confession: It is a grace to understand the concept of indwelling sin. Only grace enables you to say your biggest problem is you.
  2. Confession: Only grace protects us from self-righteousness. It is easy to neither desire change nor the help that can make it happen.
  3. Confession: It is a grace to see ourselves with accuracy. It is so easy to self-righteously declare that you are not self-righteous.
  4. Confession: It is a grace to be willing to listen and consider criticism. It takes grace to quiet the mind and settle the heart to hear.
  5. Confession: It is grace not to be paralyzed by regret. The cross teaches you are not stuck, not cursed to pay forever for your past.
  6. Confession: It is grace to know that we can face our wrongs because Christ has carried our guilt and shame. No more fear of being known!
  7. Self-righteousness is why we are content with superficial Christianity. Convinced we are okay, we do not long for the daily rescue of grace
  8. Self-righteousness is about being more aware of and irritated by the sins of others than you are conscious of and grieved by your own
  9. Self-righteousness looks outside to explain failure. The Gospel calls you to admit that what comes out of you has its birth inside you
  10. Self-righteousness makes you blind to yourself, but critical of others. Grace causes you to be honest with yourself and forgiving of others
  11. Since sin blinds, we don't know ourselves as well as we think we do - we all need people who will help us see ourselves with accuracy
  12. Unlike physically blind people who are aware of their blindness, spiritually blind people are not only blind, but blind to their blindness!
  13. Have you signed up for our weekly devotional? Subscribe to "Wednesday's Word" tonight - it comes out tomorrow morning: paultripp.com/subscribe
  14. Grace will work to destroy your claustrophobic little kingdom of one as it introduces you to a much better King.
  15. Be aware...the kingdom of self is a costume kingdom. It does a perversely brilliant job of masquerading as the kingdom of God
  16. The fundamental difference between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of self is captured by one question: Who resides at the center?
  17. Only 25 "What Did You Expect?" hardcover books left in stock, 50% off retail price at our online store. Don't miss out: paultripp.com/Store_ProductD…
  18. As God's children, we can get up daily and rest in the care of our heavenly Father while being blown away by our inclusion in his kingdom.
  19. Little kingdom living is an endless search for earthly treasure and unending focus on personal need; Grace calls you to a bigger kingdom.
  20. If you are in Christ, you've been chosen to transcend the borders of your own glory, to reach out toward a greater glory, the glory of God
