  1. @MidnightDBA That one sorted out the men from the boys when I hired devs at Microsoft.
  2. @MidnightDBA (3/3) Then do the reverse, working out where to start in the middle. Bonus point for using any assembly language.
  3. @MidnightDBA (2/3) Code has to start in top-left corner of array and print contents in clockwise, inwards spiral order.
  4. @MidnightDBA (1/3) Fav: write the code for this api: void spiral (int x, int y, char** array), array is x*y full of chars
  5. Wow - never had a batch run for more than a day before - now I know how SSMS shows the elapsed time.
  6. @resing :-) I'm sure I can persuade Kimberly to try - she lived in Boston for a year.
  7. Tomorrow I'll install th...e mixer/recording software, then add in the phone interface. Can you say SQL Server car-talk? :-)
  8. Finished wiring the sound booths for the radio show - now to install s/w and test things out. It's coming together!
  9. Just been discussing possibility of auto-defrag with current SQL Rangers/Masters. See http://bit.ly/Rg5vc #sql #sqlserver #sharepoint
  10. @SQLSarg Won't ever happen because of the tiny security risk if you're sharing volumes with a file server.
  11. @SQLSarg I did, but there was something screwed up my network stack for over a year that prevented it replying to anything other than a ping
  12. @venzann Yeah, with instant init turned on, a TB data file creates *very* fast :-)
  13. I'm so happy - my laptop suddenly accepts remote desktop requests - I can login to it without going all the way downstairs to my office!
  14. @mrdenny I could, but that's something else I'm playing with too.
  15. Hmm - going to take almost 36 hours to populate a 1TB db from scratch, allocating 8MB/second. Only using one CPU though.
  16. @MidnightDBA I mean big turkey. You only get bog turkeys in Ireland.
  17. @MidnightDBA Use it as base for soups, Indian food, risotto etc. It was a bog turkey, and a 30 qrt stock pot!
  18. @SQLSarg Not in this test - playing around with number of files in the backup set on different RAID levels, etc
  19. This is one test where it doesn't matter what's making up the TB being backed up - does for backup compression though.
  20. Going to do some backup timings with varying backup parameters for a 1-5TB DB this week. Should make an interesting post.
