  1. @Terrible_Swede My younger son's is fine, but both my Past Elder and Terry Maher one are doing the same thing. Haven't tweeted in a month!
  2. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, why will Friends but not Home or Profile display on my FB?
  3. This News Feed that's a news feed and a live feed on FB is driving me nuts (or further nuts, according to your estimation).
  4. @Esget 31 October is Reformation Day.
  5. @Rumor99 Well I think what you write is just fine.
  6. @RobertTalbert OTOH, chaos is not dangerous until it appears orderly.
  7. @Rumor99 IMHO, yours is one the best blogs in the entire Lutheran blogosphere, with a perspective from which many can learn much.
  8. New post on Past Elder: Is Having Bishops A Problem?

  10. It was not a good day to be a Husker. Sunny beaches.
  11. @RobertTalbert So I'm a Hawkeye academically, and a Husker by the grace of God in Husker Nation. Services are at 1430 on ABC, did I mention?
  12. @RobertTalbert Yes, I'm thinking certificates are simply awarded upon completion as distinct from a gradus (step) to a degree.
  13. Here we have a spiritual phenomenon beyond all that, known as Husker Nation. Services begin 1430 hours on ABC.
  14. I defer to Dr Talbert, but I don't think completion of a certificate programme constitutes graduation, therefore UNL is not my alma mater.
  15. Years later I completed a certificate programme in another area through Continuing Studies and the College of Bus Admin.
  16. I am a Husker by the unmerited grace of God. Taught there once too. Ex-faculty do not refer to a former institution as alma mater.
  17. I have two almae matres. One is the University of Iowa. The other name is being withheld to protect the guilty.
  18. 3. Usage can become corrupt. How is a school your mother unless she gives birth to you, ie you graduate?
  19. 2. Accepted usage re an educational institution includes having attended only, however having graduated is usually assumed.
  20. 1. Alma mater is short for alma mater studiorum, meaning nourishing mother of studies. Alma mater originally meant various Roman goddesses.
