  2. broad sense of mission: support existing missions at first, community will form around it
  3. think carefully about how to make the pitch to educators to adopt OSS: "free" works at a certain point, but "better" works at others.
  4. CCL --> DMP: model got smaller. instead of full-service teacher training, did one-offs with smaller groups, focused pedagogical atte ...
  5. create models for internship programs, outreach missions, and other "in the field" moments.
  6. address multiple levels of usage: create deliverables that cater to novice, intermediate, and advanced users...
  7. be careful of too much rah-rah-sis-boom-bah! create honest assessments of OS usage-lore (don't oversell the value if it isn't there)
  8. target committed people first via website design and content.
  9. better to focus attention on base-building, getting committed people together to build organization
  10. IT perspective: too many requests given limited resources, personnel, etc.
  11. OSAAC might work on a model for us hosting software for education (grants, gathering participating partners, etc.).
  12. how do we get the parties who matter interested and excited about open source?
  13. how do we make arguments to IT that OSS can be a secure, viable alternative to their acknowledged "safe" products?
  14. higher ed: IT groups are increasingly locking down systems, and it's a problem. how can we anticipate and/or deal with this issue re: OSS?
  15. don't approach OS community with "we know better than you" mentality--offer them your help.
  16. university of minnesota is doing usability testing (extensive) on using Drupal. touch base with them...
  17. identifying strategies for reaching the open source community is important: how do they respond to you? what strategies work?
