  1. @r4vi lol - no, I hadn't :-)
  2. Holy cow. The ease with which Ubuntu handles my T-Mobile broadband dongle thingy blows even the Mac out of the water.
  3. RT @MrBastounis: Using IRC for five minutes last night reminds me how freaking awesome it is. Sod this Twitter garbage: www.mirc.co.uk
  4. Geek humor. "reboot: need to be root". lol
  5. Finally back online. Took BT 29 hours to fix my land line/broadband, after the cable had been cut by a grass cutter. Way to go.
  6. @westleyl @holytshirt I just can't come up with a good acronym for that. PRWDD? Hm...
  7. @ICooper Will do, thanks :-)
  8. @GaryLCoxJr I'm sure I must be off that one anyway - haven't twittered enough for that recently ;-)
  9. @JMBucknall I think I confused you with the time, since I called you one hour early :-)
  10. Turns out @garyshort and I are on vacation around the same time - next @sodthis episode after we return, maybe last July week.
  11. I'm not sure how that's possible really, but I have never consciously heard a song performed by Elvis Costello. Am I a bad person?
  12. Phew, so much stuff to do, I hardly get round to telling anybody about it.
  13. @Grumpydev Yeah, agreed. I wouldn't want to work in the same room with my server(s) ;-)
  14. @Grumpydev It's in a different room, no ear bleeding :-)
  15. @Grumpydev Totally agreed, but... home office and all that. Anyway, new server will have redundant PSUs, no question.
  16. @LittleLisa69 Not quite yet, a few days to go :-) But thanks!
  17. Got important systems working and online somehow, in spite of dead PSU. Replacement is on its way, new server must wait til after vacation.
  18. Does the x6 backplane in a PowerEdge 2950 with a PERC controller take SAS and SATA interchangeably? Same backplane, my choice of SAS/SATA?
  19. @shaf Thanks for the ideas though, I may well end up trying that!
  20. @shaf I totally agree with that pov, though part of their price comes from stocking those 1tb disks for ages, which is quite desirable.
