  1. @ginarau goodreads, the Multnomah Cointy Library page, and Slate.
  2. Don't think of self as vengeful but I wish I had gypsy forbears to call dreadful curse down on person whose dog mistook my yard for toilet.
  3. Watched Man for All Seasons, an old favorite, feel ready to take on Mantel's Wolf Hall. Just have to finish few other books first.
  4. @danaelevy what about in the places you grew up? I vividly remember catching one in sand under an elm in the front yard to take to school.
  5. @sarahgilbert thanks for datapoints. But they are in Japan as well as my NM, and wikipedia gives a Czech word for them.
  6. @lyzadanger I was looking up one and it led to another, of course. Haven't read Stegner, but it's on my list.
  7. @sarahgilbert I'm dying to know if OR native tweeps have childhood memories of stalking antlions too. Worldwide distribution, fascinating.
  8. Housework to do, kids to practice with, but I NEED to read about antlions, Myrmeleontidae. And angles of repose. #theinternetatemymorning
  9. The Latin word for yam is dioscorea. I love President Bartlet.
  10. The Dark Crystal followed by The West Wing -- Shibboleth episode. Satisfied sighings. And, oh yes, the food was good.
  11. Somebody had better be bringing me home milled girly soap.
  12. Don't you love when your whole life becomes Twitter-fodder? What about when it's someone else's stream?
  13. I have coat @ravenme gave me, I wish I had photo of everyone who stops, tells me it's great coat, grandmas, punks, workers, diverse group.
  14. 4/4 parent teacher conferences: no apparent moral degeneracy or intellectual lassitude. Feeling celebratory and full of thanksgiving.

  16. Last night the 5 year old described 'numbers that have middles' and when I realized he meant odd numbers I was delighted. Original.
  17. It's bad form to skip away from school drop-off in the morning, right?
  18. @sarahgilbert I didn't think I liked Pokemon, but I am enchanted by "self-abandonment" and leaf storms. We learn to love what our kids love.
  19. @bsneed next challenge, coping with the kid's pre-birthday nightmares.
  20. @PAgent this explains scales making me heavier too!
