  1. I have a big squishy boxer head on my knee. Suspect knee is about to get slobbery, but she's very cute!
  2. Oldies Misty, Maddy and Dottie have all gone home!
  3. Oldie boxer Princess Tara Banana has arrived. Still a bit stressed but coping fairly well with a household full of other animals
  4. Tara oldie boxer coming in today, Dotty oldie sprollie going home!
  5. Transport run for tomorrow is sorted, phew!
  6. RT @jenkirby Turid Rugaas says it is easier to train older dogs: they can see rewards easier than young dogs [Interesting, not heard that!]
  7. RT @ForestDogRescue training older dogs, 1st rule never feel sorry for them 2nd, dogs live in the day, they can learn from now.
  8. @Widgetty lol. He will have to wear an 'I'm a lurcher' t-shirt or nobody will ever guess! :-D
  9. @Widgetty my last foster was handed in as 'lurcher'. This was her: http://oldies.org.uk/?p=15210 . LOL.
  10. @suttonsimon would pay good money to see you conceal little old lady in your pocket, pull her out as a reward :-D
  11. @Widgetty "crosses tend to be labelled 'lurchers' " too right, crosses with anything! Have seen some very odd lurchers!
  12. Any tips for training oldie dogs, adopter @suttonsimon asks? Anyone want to volunteer any?
  13. @suttonsimon ignore or stop anything that conflicts with behaviour you want (eg, use lead) and be consistent!
  14. @suttonsimon training older dog pretty much like training young one: find something they like & use it as an incentive,
  15. Much easier to train a behaviour before you *really need* your dog to do it reliably. And on that note I'd better make some liver cake!
  16. Vital to teach no jumping & good lead walking. May not mind pulling /jumping NOW, but if you get ill / have baby/ frail parent moves in?
  17. Thanks @BoredomBusters and @Serenaf66 - still need help on transport run Frankley-Gordano Saturday. This dog is at risk if not moved.
  18. Am wondering if the person who rang the @oldiesclub rehoming line at 11.48pm last night really expected a human to answer!
  19. @Moonchild66 good luck with the blind, hope the idea works out. Sounds very stressful!
  20. A Follow Friday: @The_Blue_Cross help a lot of older dogs and are generally good guys, follow them!
