  1. @birdofyouth It wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't so ubiquitous. It's like the "(I've Got You) I Feel Good" of Brazilian music
  2. Looking at a tutorial on cooking & breaking down a turkey on this yuppie/foodie website. It reads like a J.G. Ballard novel. w
  3. Doing this sampler part on a demo. It's making my computer crash over & over again & it's a race to play it right before the computer dies.w
  4. I love how much of an outgoing party anthem "Sound & Vision" feels like given it's about staying in your room for weeks w/ the blinds drawn
  5. Playing bass all day. It made me feel like a giant striding jauntily over a mountain range. But maybe that's because I was picturing Pat. w
  6. Saw Big Star play the Brooklyn Masonic Temple & it was great. Not many "Sister Lovers" songs but a very moving version of "I Am the Cosmos."
  7. Straightlaced guy on the subway platform is doing some kind of introverted groovy chicken dance of private celebration. No headphones.
  8. Also Dion opened! His voice sounded great to me. Hearing "Abraham, Martin, & John" was nice. Wonderful faux-Dylan protest song.
  9. Went to see Bob Dylan tonight & it was excellent. Bob seemed in a good mood & Charlie Sexton played great. Lauren is jealous. w
  10. Subway sax player is doing "Nature Boy." One of the best vocal melodies ever written.
  11. Remember all those silly anti-theft packages from the early days of the CD? Fear of people stealing CDs from stores seems almost quaint now.
  12. Closed the night out with "Maggie May." Aging appears to be Rod Stewart's Great Recurrent Theme weirdly enough, cf "Mandolin Wind" et al.
  13. After awhile doing karaoke every song starts to seem good & worthy of full-throated screaming. Which on some level I agree with.
  14. People are standing on tables and stuff by this point. http://myloc.me/1uFlv
  15. One thing about karaoke: it forces you into unflatteringly close contact with the actual lyrics of your favorite pop songs.
  16. By the way, I could not possibly disagree more with the message of "The Greatest Love of All." http://myloc.me/1uC9Z
  17. Girls doing a Whitney Houston medley. "I Will Always Love You" into the "The Greatest Love Of All." From self-abasement to empowerment.
  18. "Hunting the horny black toad?" Those can't be actual lyrics to "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." http://myloc.me/1uzPB
  19. I love the anonymous actors on the karoake videos, stuck perpetually & thanklessly living out the emotions of these pop breakup songs.
  20. Uh oh - karaoke. I just tackled the key change on the themesong to "Greatest American Hero" with aplomb. w http://myloc.me/1uvLQ
