  2. is thankful for all the help and good wishes this year on our journey to the solar system's very frontier. Happy Thanksgiving all!
  3. A green beacon signal was received by radio yesterday here on the ground, so our spacecraft is operating nominally in hibernation!
  4. As you read this the 1st complete Pluto core encounter sequence, running 9 days & over 700 observations, is executing on our NH simulator!
  5. Tomorrow our mission leaders meet to architect plans for next summer's wake up, instrument cals, and cruise science.
  6. Tracking data indicates that it is still looking like we'll need a tiny course correction this coming summer when we do our annual checkout.
  7. After a successful, 10-day wake up period, NH is back to hibernation until January 4th. Congrats to the mission team-- well done!
  8. Yesterday our mission control was filmed and our PI interviewed for a NOVA episode to air in March.
  9. Today we're re-pointing our antenna by a few degs to keep up w/Earth's motion around the Sun as seen from our perch, 1.5 billion miles away.
  10. is working the weekend out beyond 15 AU; just completed a fault protection/autonomy software update, & a guidance & nav parameter update too
  11. Next week NOVA visits the New Horizons control center for an episode on our fave planet set for March.
  12. New Horizons is awake and doing fine for 10 days of operations between hibernation periods. We cross the 15 AU marker on Friday!
  13. New Horizons wakes up today. Rise and shine!
  14. NH salutes Pioneer 10, the 1st intrepid explorer of the outer solar system, now nearing its 100 AU mark!
  15. We're less than a week from an NH wake up Nov 9-18 to re-point our antenna, tidy up fault protection software, and do a few other chores.
  16. Today/tomorrow the NH project team is conducting our annual engineering data "tending and lessons learned review."

  19. All's well with NH. And the 16 AU marker is coming-- then early next year-- closer to Pluto than Earth!
  20. Did you know? Although we won't have half the flight days behind us until next October, we'll be half way to Pluto in miles by February!
