  1. To overly perky girl in coffee shop, if you say "OMG THAT IS SO COOL!" one more time I will hurl this mug at you.
  2. People sometimes think I'm a college student. Can't decide if that's flattering or a sign I need to stop shopping at Delia's & Forever 21.
  3. @AdamSerwer There must be a mole! :)
  4. I'm a couple days late on this, but @racialicious was in the New York Times talking about Precious: http://bit.ly/6e7028
  5. No podcast today, I'm afraid. Both Tami and I are tied up with other plans. Look for us again next week. :)
  6. "LOL! At Sean's age, the main criteria should be taste. "
  7. RT @missturman: @newdemographic bright colors. clear, defined graphics. realistic images. [Thx!]
  8. RT @profblmkelley: engaging beautiful images, engaging lyrical or funny language. [Thx! I need to focus more on language, less on message]
  9. RT @profsusurro: I pick based on animation, accessibility, & subject. I also have some just 'cos they make me lol [makes sense - thx!]
  10. @blogdiva Art, I can do Poetics, I find hard to evaluate. Maybe that's the central issue. I don't really read poetry.
  11. To clarify, I guess I'm talking about board books or those aimed at really young kids. Parents, what criteria do you use?
  12. In all seriousness, I have no idea how to evaluate children's books (apart from the race thing). They all kinda seem the same to me.
  13. Why starting a blog comment with "Well, I'm just a clueless white woman, but..." is a bad idea. @whattamisaid explains http://bit.ly/17BPFD
  14. "They don’t want to admit it, but a lot of working dads don’t want to be around their kids" Great post @jonathanfields http://bit.ly/1iQxL6
  15. RT @MijoLee: i think you're missing the hardass element of this story. "u cant escape me, no matter what u do, MAMA... IS... THERE." [true!]
  16. RT @Chookooloonks: Huh. Sounds like being a hardass Asian parent is uncannily similar to being a hardass West Indian parent. [Probably!]
  17. If there's a book called "Run Away and Your Ass is Grass," I will gladly purchase it. :)
  18. Stopped myself from buying "Runaway Bunny" for Sean. As a hardass Asian parent, I can't offer to follow my child wherever she runs away to.
  19. Ha! Loved when @whattamisaid declared: "I wish CNN would stop trying to sum up POC in one-off shows!" on last ep of #addictedtorace
  20. In my keynote this afternoon I shared a story I've never told before. About a workshop gone horribly wrong. Scary to share, but glad I did.
