  1. Family of burned man seeks justice http://bit.ly/4N6Orn Beijing man who set himself on fire over demolition.(in my district, 海淀)(via @niubi)
  2. "What English sounds like to foreigners" is hilarious: http://bit.ly/2zUIJM more concepts would benefit from being presented as Italian pop.
  3. Few things get me as hungry for good food (and the immense skill needed to cook it) as watching Top Chef. It's reality TV for foodies.
  4. And with that, the academic obligations of the semester in China are over. All that's left before I leave is food and gift shopping.
  5. Just got back from 川办 (Chuānbàn), a Sichuan restaurant in Beijing run by the Sichuan provincial office. Great food, as always (both times..)
  6. @coffeegeek It's been a while, but that's how I remember it.
  7. @coffeegeek You didn't find it to be sickly sweet? Whenever we mistakenly use N02, it's flat and horribly sweet.
  8. @enotriavin Hva syntes du om TNP? 32% virker noe i overkant. Var det bare alkohol? Hadde den noe balanse i det hele tatt?
  9. I'm going to miss the 串儿 (Chuan'r; Skewer). Might have to whip up some lamb, but I can't recreate this: http://bit.ly/5q6obn ...half the fun
  10. @Kaiserkuo Holy shit! How'd that happen? 北京人工影响天气办公室 up to their tricks again?
  11. TV: The season finale of Dexter was... not something I was expecting.
  12. Making Gingerbread cookies, glühwein, apple cider, gravad lax and scrambled eggs. A very European pre-Christmas duly celebrated in Beijing.
  13. @patricksearle Tell me about it. I came to Beijing in early July, and leave in 9 days. Time has passed way too quickly. Def. coming back.
  14. Just ordered a couple of bottles of Grace Vineyard 2005 Premium Chardonnay, a Chinese standout that was paired with lobster at Maison Boulud
  15. Usher breaking it down -with a goat. A mashup that straddles the ultimate divide in music: that of man and beast. http://tinyurl.com/ydbgd2a
  16. Writing my final essay, having a very Sufjan Stevens Christmas. Only ten days left until I leave China. Kind of unreal, still.
  17. Had a set meal at 国肴小居 (Guóyáo Xiǎojū) last night. They specialize in Tan cuisine, overusing a funky chicken-duck-ham broth. Not too happy.
  18. @beijingdaze Hey! You seem like the guy to ask: Any great restaurants in or around Nanluoguxiang?
  19. Obama's Nobel lecture (video): http://bit.ly/85RCNP. Glad to see he chose to tackle the hardest possible topic in accepting the Peace Prize.
  20. @niubi Christ, even as a foreign student I'm feeling the BJ love. Being (upper?) middle class as a student is both absurd and delightful.
