  1. @marjae If you need just one, "Holocaust" is probably the blackest low of a beautiful miserable album.
  2. @marjae On the depressing songs theme, I offer the entirety of Big Star's Third/Sister Lovers.
  3. @hrheingold It sounded good from the tweets. I was asked and wanted to go but was overcommitted with travel next week.
  4. @slainson I thought you were writing @marjae an imaginary dialogue between Raitt and Dylan. It was pretty funny that way!
  5. That huge drop in Swedish internet traffic attributed to anti-piracy law? Erased 7 months later: http://bit.ly/1AvOvs
  6. @hrheingold Ah, wondered if it was your take on the IPF scene.
  7. Took boys to the library. Younger euphoric over HUMUNGOUS Amazing Spider Man omnibus. Elder restocked on Dr Who and Asimov. My geeks <3
  8. @michaelzimmer I've seen several ppl disconnect Twitter-FB pipe. Personally, I wish everyone would. Too much repetition.
  9. @hrheingold Whose feedback is "this is stupid" ?
  10. @Bdelo77 It was over the Kansas River.
  11. Lawrence bridge goes BOOM! Or as @jmittell says, goes BAYM!! Ignore my horrid glee cackle http://www.flickr.com/photo...
  12. That was fun, though younger son disappointed it wasn't a huge fiery explosion. Clean fall followed by huge #BOOM! #Lawrence
  13. Oh apparently they're going to blow it up sooner - explosion set for noon!
  14. Wondering if the rain means the blowing up of the bridge/spectator event of the day will be postponed.
  15. @cyberpsy Oh not at all! I assume Rheingold was talking about humanities people who present by reading from a prepared paper.
  16. @cyberpsy At the conferences I go to (AoIR, NCA and ICA) it is *very* rare to hear papers read. Lots of PPT but extemporaneous speaking.
  17. @slithy_toves That's happened to me twice in the last 2 weeks. Hate it too.
  18. @JessieNYC People in social sciency communication never do it.
  19. @hrheingold Reading papers is common and expected in some humanities disciplines. Taboo in others. I dont like it either.
  20. Well that was a book well worth reading. Nice to see someone able to pull a life's work together into a clear and moving slim volume.
